logo math

Graphic designers love critiquing other peoples’ designs (because we know we can do them better) and we also love analyzing the evolution of logos. This clever site examines the unholy unions that could have possibly created some of our most famous marks. I especially enjoy the one shown above, as it incorporates two of my favorite things on the planet, who have sued one another endlessly.

mac users aren’t snobs–are we?

The Street says we are. They also say we tend

  • to be perfectionists
  • to use notebooks
  • to use teeth whitening products
  • to drive station wagons
  • to pay for downloaded music
  • to go to Starbucks
  • care about “green” products and the environment
  • to own a hybrid car
  • and last but not least … to buy 5 pairs of sneakers in a year

Ok, I am a hard core Mac lover. I always say that a PC will never darken my doorway. But none of the above is really true for me. I am not a perfectionist, I am too lazy to care. I do have an iBook but rarely ever use it–it’s one of the old style ones with the rubber edges. I bought it for school back in 2002, and haven’t even kept it updated. I’ve never used teeth whitening products (though I would like to get them professionally done) and I drive a PT Cruiser, not a station wagon. I rarely pay for downloaded music (naughty me) but I do confess to going to Starbucks occasionally. I care about the environment but not  enough to use green products, I confess. I think Priuses are hideous little cars. And I dont own one pair of tennies–I am all about flip flops.

I don’t think Mac users are snobs–we just do not understand why people continue to use PCs. I mean, why risk losing everything in your computer to a virus, when Macs are not really vulnerable to them (and don’t quote those obscure reports that say Macs can get viruses–so far, there hasn’t been one in the wild since 1994 or so). Why go through all the craziness of conflicting drivers, when Macs are truly plug and play? We love our Macs so much, we want you to experience the goodness that is Apple, too! I prefer to think of myself as altruistic, not a snob!
